Surreal and dreamy, his work is composed of a blend of painting, digital illustration, photography and hand drawing. This style has gained his work something of an international profile, with art commissioned, sold and recognized in various countries. On the flip side, his illustrations are part of a top agency as well as used in promotional marketing campaigns. Regular imagery in his work has included theatre, his love for mask making and machinery. Inspirations are human psyche, music, duality of character and fairytales.

Machinery is of passionate interest due to the industrial beauty, strength, shape and vulnerability of cogs & working mechanical parts. But they leave a silent legacy and have always been a part of something useful, astoundingly beautiful or momentous." Matrokk uses a combination of acrylics, gouache, watercolours seamlessly combined with photography and pencil drawing, as well as any other creative media he feels suitable.
